Where to stay in Galle
Inside Galle Fort

Think twice about
- Galle New Town around the bus station, railway station and Main Street
Noisy, traffic choked, hot and charmless, badly lit around transport hubs after dark, with neither Fort nor sea.
- A2 Galle to Matara coast road frontage
Rooms fronting the highway get constant bus and truck noise and fumes and a dangerous road crossing to any beach.
- Isolated villas with no village or restaurant nearby
Wonderful only with an in-house chef or meal plan, otherwise every dinner becomes a dark tuk tuk negotiation.
