Things to do in Hampi
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Hampi
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Best months, 15 to 30C, dry and clear, with reliable coracles and best bouldering. December to January is peak.
Late February to March heats up into the 30s but stays workable with dawn discipline.
Worst months, regularly 35 to 42C plus. Sightseeing compresses to dawn and dusk and needs a pool, car and siesta plan.
Monsoon, green and quiet, but ferry and coracles stop in high water, steps are slippery and some low sites flood.

- Vidyanagar / the Jindal (JSW) township
A polished corporate township 30 to 45 minutes from the monuments, so dawn sightseeing hours are spent in a car.
