- In spring severe weather season, keep alerts on and know where your hotel storm shelter is.
- Walk lit, populated routes in the core at night and avoid the named no-base areas.
Wichita travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- The Keeper as a midday photo stop. It is a sunset place.
- Exploration Place as an adult half day. Without kids, do the Dome film and move on.
- Old Town late on a generic Saturday night, and chain dining on Rock Road when local rooms cost the same.
Getting around Wichita: public transport and more
- Rent a car. Wichita is spread out, transit is limited and the best excursions are drives.
- Downtown, Old Town, Delano and the river core walk well, with the free Q-Line trolley and Bike Share ICT.
- Cluster days by area. Across town is about 20 minutes, not 8.
