Things to do in Uluru
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Uluru
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Best months, cool to warm days, wildflowers in September and fewer peak crowds.
Peak comfort and clearest skies, perfect hiking days but cold nights, highest crowds and prices.
Shoulder-good, April opens Tali Wiru season, October heat and flies return so use dawn discipline.
Transitional and hot, workable only for fit early risers who accept midday track closures.
Worst months, 36 to 45 plus degrees, violent flies, walks close late morning and Tali Wiru is out of season.

- Do not climb Uluru, do not photograph restricted faces, and never use a drone in the park.
- Avoid night driving outside Yulara due to kangaroos, camels and stock, most rental cover voids it.
- Do not approach or feed dingoes, watch for snakes at dawn and dusk, and never swim in waterholes.
Uluru travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- One-night or day-trip Uluru misses sunrise, the Base Walk in cool air, Kata Tjuta and the night sky.
- Two dune dinners duplicate star talks and menus, pick one maximum per trip.
- Only Desert Gardens select rooms and Longitude guarantee an Uluru view, check the exact room category name.
- Ayers Wok Noodle Bar and Bough House are fallbacks, not destinations for a special night.

- Fly to Ayers Rock Airport AYQ, free resort shuttle meets every flight and Yulara is 10 minutes away.
- Free Yulara shuttle loops hotels, Town Square, airport and Camel Farm about every 20 minutes.
