Best time to visit Tumpak Sewu
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Dry season. Trails are safest, the river runs clear, and the descent and Goa Tetes are most often open.
The driest and most reliable window for the full visit, viewpoint, base and cave in one morning.
Wet season. The descent often closes in heavy rain, water runs brown, and flash flood and lahar risk is at its highest.
Heaviest rain. Plan viewpoint first, keep a spare day, and treat any descent as a bonus if the gate allows it.
