Things to do in Fujairah
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Fujairah
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Best season core: sea 22 to 28C, reliable visibility, hiking and mountain drives in season; Nov, Feb and Mar are the sweet spot.
Edges of the best season, late October to early April overall, with peak prices and Dubai weekend demand.
Shoulder: mid-30sC and climbing, sea often clear in late spring, hiking shrinks to dawn and prices fall.
Worst: 38 to 45C plus humidity, sea 31 to 33C, midday hiking dangerous and camping impossible.
What's on
- Fujairah International Arts Festival typically February
Periodic winter festival in Fujairah City and heritage sites; not reliably annual, confirm the year's programme.
- UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad) 2-3 December
Corniche celebrations in the city while Al Aqah fills at peak rates; book for atmosphere or avoid for price.
Best things to do in Fujairah
Snoopy Island
Rocky islet off Al Aqah with the UAE's best easy snorkelling: turtles, rays and reef fish in a few metres of water.
Fujairah Fort

Umbrella Beach
Managed city beach on the corniche with loungers, food trucks and a promenade locals use at dusk.
Bull Butting Fujairah
Friday heritage spectacle where bulls lock horns and push until one gives ground, watched from walls and car bonnets.
Where to stay in Fujairah
Al Aqah Beach
first trip, best overall leisure base
Beach resorts facing Snoopy Island with the Hajars behind; you live in the resort and drive out for sights.
Fujairah City
business, budget and touring by car
Working port city with Umbrella Beach, the fort and mosque, malls and the emirate's best independent eating.
Dibba Al Fujairah
Musandam cruises and northern diving
Stay the night before a dhow cruise or dive course and remove the dawn transfer; evenings are quiet local life.
Khorfakkan
quieter alternative base
Pretty Sharjah bay town with Shark Island diving and more independent life than Al Aqah, 35 minutes south.
Think twice about
- Fujairah City port and industrial-adjacent streets
Dusty, traffic-heavy warehouse and workshop blocks away from the corniche, with little to walk to at night.
- Al Aqah public-beach camping stretches
Litter and charcoal after busy weekends, minimal facilities and punishing summer heat without resort infrastructure.
- Fujairah-Masafi highway motels
Built for through traffic; you will drive for every meal and swim.
- Masafi and inland towns as a beach base
Mountain highway town 45 minutes or more from every beach and reef worth your time.

Is Fujairah safe?
- Very safe and low-crime; dress modestly away from beaches and never photograph military, port or border installations.
- Never camp or park in a wadi bed and never cross flowing water; flash floods arrive under blue skies overhead.
- Swim in lifeguarded or resort zones, wear reef shoes on rocky entries and touch no coral or turtles.
Fujairah travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- A Dubai day trip calling itself Fujairah: four-plus hours driving for two hours in midday chop at Snoopy.
- All-inclusive lock-in in Al Aqah wastes Fujairah City's independent restaurants 45 minutes away.
- Museum and Al Bidya stops sold as standalone half-day tours are padding; bundle them geographically.
Getting around Fujairah: public transport and more
- You need a car or tours with pickups; nothing makes Al Aqah, Fujairah City, Dibba and Khorfakkan a practical day without one.
- Dubai to Fujairah City is about 1.5 hours on the Sheikh Khalifa Highway; Al Aqah adds about 45 minutes north.
- Taxis are plentiful in the city and scarce in Al Aqah; do not build a Dibba dawn pickup on a ride app.
