The best window. March and April are the most comfortable weeks, seas are calm, boats run reliably and Cam Lam mango season peaks.
Dry but hot and busy with domestic family holidays. Sightsee early and live in the water. The Sea Festival is in Nha Trang in July.
Shoulder season. Heat and crowds ease early in the month, with the Whale Worship festival and Mid Autumn events in the region.
The wet season and worst months. Rain peaks late in the year, boats cancel, the Hon Ba road carries landslide risk and prices drop.

Where to stay in Cam Ranh
Bai Dai Resort Strip
most visitors, beach and resort stays
Big resorts between the highway and the best beach, minutes from the airport, with no walkable town outside the gates.
Cam Ranh city
cheap, local and practical stays
A working port town with the market, the pagoda and low hotel prices, a 20 to 30 minute drive from Bai Dai beach.
Binh Lap Peninsula
quiet escapes and coast road trips south
Small resorts and a fishing village on a green peninsula, sunrise facing, slow at night and reliant on arranged transport.
Think twice about
- Cam Ranh naval base perimeter and Binh Ba Island
A controlled military area. Tourism on Binh Ba is banned and foreigners are not admitted. Do not base, visit or photograph installations here.
- Airport highway corridor away from Bai Dai beach
Isolated boulevard frontage with no beach access, no food strip and no evening life. You get strip inconvenience without a resort.
- Cam Ranh city centre as a beach base
Not unsafe, but 20 to 30 minutes from the beach, quiet at night and thin on English. Base there for price or local life, not for a beach holiday.

- Do not photograph naval installations, warships or checkpoints, and do not fly a drone near the base, airport or islands without permission.
- Carry cash in VND for markets, stalls, boats and rural stops. Cards are fine inside resorts. Police 113, ambulance 115.
Cam Ranh travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- Any tour selling Binh Ba Island to foreign passport holders. Eat the same lobster at Mong Uoc, K10 or Binh Lap instead.
- Nha Trang day trips that promise Po Nagar, VinWonders, mud baths, Dam Market and three islands in one day. Pick two things.
- Seafood priced by weight without agreeing species, weight, price per kilo and cooking fee before cooking.
- Airport corridor hotels that are not on Bai Dai, Binh Lap or in the city. Check what you can actually walk to.
Getting around Cam Ranh: public transport and more
- Cam Ranh Airport is 5 to 15 minutes from Bai Dai resorts, 20 to 30 minutes from the city and Binh Lap, and 45 to 60 minutes from Nha Trang.
- The strip has no walkable centre. Use hotel shuttles, restaurant pick ups and pre booked cars for Vinh Hy and Hon Ba days.
- The Dat Moi bus runs Cam Ranh Airport to central Nha Trang about every 30 minutes in roughly 70 minutes.
- Boats to Binh Hung, Binh Lap rafts and bay charters cancel in rough weather, most often from October to December.
