Things to do in Taichung, splurging
Toyo Ito's opera house, the Calligraphy Greenway, Fourth Credit Union's ice cream, FIRNS.
This itinerary is built for someone who treats dinner as the heart of the day and fills the hours around it with good coffee, world-class museums, and unhurried shopping. Taichung rewards the spender: the restaurant scene punches well above its size, the design boutiques along the Calligraphy Greenway are genuinely original, and the architecture, from a Japanese-era railway park to Toyo Ito's theater, gives every afternoon some substance. Three days is the right amount of time to feel like you know the place without rushing any of it.

Where to stay
InterContinental Taichung
The obvious base for this itinerary: top-tier rooms, a strong bar program, and well-placed for both the Central District days and the Xitun evening.
The Splendor Taichung
On the Shizheng corridor, a short walk to the Greenway and FIRNS; a step down in price, still polished.
