Things to do in Windhoek
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Windhoek
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Dry winter, best overall. Cool clear days, animals at water, aloes flower and the best stargazing.
Wet summer, greener, cheaper and livelier locally, with afternoon storms, migrants and fewer tourists.
Hardest months: October for heat, dust and peak prices, January and February hottest and wettest for a short outdoors trip.
