Things to do in Linköping
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Linköping
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
A secret best month: Riddarspel, LinCon, canals reopen, Gamla Linköping in bloom and long evenings without July crowds.
Best months and peak: daylight past 22:00, canals full, floating terrace open and warmest lake swimming.
Good and close third: still summer, with warmest swimming in early August.
Good and underrated: students back, wind music festival, hockey opens and canals wind down.
Workable: late April turns springlike, October is cosy, cheap and good for concerts and exhibitions.
Workable only for Christmas market weekends and indoor sights, with about seven hours of daylight.
March is still winter despite the spring label.
Worst months: dark by 16:00 in November, canals and terraces closed, and January to February suit indoor weekends only.
