Jermuk travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- Hyatt Place Jermuk no longer exists as a brand. It has been Grand Resort Jermuk since 2019.
- Sanatorium rates are per person, not per room, and usually bundle three meals and treatments.
- Ask exactly which procedures a treatment package includes before paying, and decline any you do not want.
- Drink the gallery waters in small, timed amounts. Too much hot, strong water upsets the stomach.
- Cards work at big hotels, but guesthouses, taxis, and cafes are cash first. Bring Armenian dram.
- The short road to Gndevank via Kechut Reservoir is rough and unsuitable for a low car after the reservoir.
- Ropeway, restaurants, and guesthouses open in August may be shut in November or March. Confirm for your dates.
Getting around Jermuk: public transport and more
- Walk in town: the centre, gallery, lake, and most hotels fit inside a 20 minute stroll.
- Short taxi hops, including to the ropeway, cost around 500 AMD. Agree the price first.
- Buses and minibuses from Yerevan Kilikia station take longer than the 3 to 4 hour drive.
- Hire excursion drivers through your hotel and agree price, vehicle, and road plan in advance.
