Things to do in Manchester
Football, Ancoats pizza, Stockport detours and the places locals actually go
This is Manchester for people who want to eat well without overspending, walk neighbourhoods rather than tick landmarks, and end each night somewhere worth staying up for. Days 1 and 2 cover the city centre and Ancoats at a sensible pace, with two great-value dinners carrying the weight. Day 3 takes a short train south to Stockport, which rewards the effort.

Skip these
- The Printworks and Deansgate Locks are chain bar nightlife complexes. Drink in the Northern Quarter or Ancoats instead.
- Piccadilly Gardens is a transport interchange with grass, not a sight. Do not picnic there or book a garden view room.
- The Curry Mile is an experience, not automatically the best curry in Manchester. Pick a place before you go rather than following the touts.
- Unofficial football ticket resale is a scam and touting risk. Use club sites only.
