Things to do in Zhongshan
And where to stay, the best time to visit, what a day costs, and the traps to skip.
Best time to visit Zhongshan
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Best season, dry and mild with the lowest rain of the year, plus the November chrysanthemum festival and Sun commemorations.
Warm and green shoulder season before the rains build, though humidity returns fast by early April.
Cool and dry and pleasant for the old town, but Chinese New Year empties small restaurants and spikes hotel prices.
Rain and humidity already at summer levels, a shoulder month to watch rather than target.
Worst months, hot and humid with the heaviest rain and peak typhoon risk, outdoor sights can close at short notice.
Still hot, humid and typhoon prone early in the month, improving toward October.
