• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip

Where to stay in Úbeda
Plaza Vázquez de Molina and monumental core
first visits and couples
Sleep inside the Renaissance square, walk every sight, accept paid parking and festival noise.
Plaza del Ayuntamiento to Calle Real
value and town life
One street back from the monuments, livelier and closer to the tapas bars, still walkable to all.
El Postigo and southern old town edge
drivers, families and summer pools
Larger hotels with pools and easier parking, a five to ten minute uphill walk from the core.
Think twice about
- Modern outskirts and A-32 road corridors
Not unsafe, but car dependent with no evening paseo and no Ubeda character. Fine for a road stop, poor as a holiday base.

- The real risks are summer heat, steep cobbles in San Lorenzo and slow winding mountain roads to Cazorla.
- Emergency number in Spain is 112.
Úbeda travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- Terraces facing Vazquez de Molina charge for the view, so drink there once and eat on Calle Real.
- A three hour day trip shows only the square. Ubeda's value is its second day and its evenings.
- Midday sightseeing in July and August is pointless, as monuments close and heat can exceed 40C.
Getting around Úbeda: public transport and more
- Walk the old town. Use a car or local bus for Baeza, and a car for Sabiote, Cazorla and the Via Verde.
- The nearest useful rail station is Linares-Baeza, about 25 minutes away. Ubeda has no station in town.
- Park once at the old town edge or a hotel car park and do not drive the pedestrianised core.
