Think twice about

Essentially no verified hotel or restaurant scene for a visitor to rely on. Sleep and eat in Batna or Constantine and day trip in.
- Algeria border strips and the rural border country to the east and south
Border country to the east and south carries terrorism and kidnapping risk. Stay on the main Batna and Constantine roads.

- Assuming the Timgad Museum will be open, reports conflict and a 2026 itinerary calls it normally closed.
- Agreeing a taxi or guide price after the ride instead of before.
- Arriving at the site in the last two hours of the day, or trying to do Timgad, Ghoufi and Constantine in one day.
Getting around Timgad: public transport and more
- Bus from Batna east station drops passengers by the ruins entrance, the return boards up the road in Timgad village, ask the driver where before getting off.
