Best overall, 20 to 27C, blossom then festivals, golf rafting and hiking all prime.
Coast yes, city carefully at dawn and dusk, with diving, Calblanque early and water sports.
Second best, warm sea and harvest season, with DANA flood risk in September and October.

Where to stay in Murcia
Centro / Casco Antiguo
first trip, all-round base
Everything in the city is a 2 to 10 minute walk and the tapas squares are your living room.
El Carmen
repeat visitors, train travellers and budget stays
Genuinely local and cheaper south of the river, with a 10 to 15 minute walk to the cathedral.
Santa Eulalia / La Merced
longer stays and younger travellers
Lively student quarter with good value bars and apartments, still 10 minutes to Belluga.
Juan Carlos I / Churra corridor
business, pool and parking
Larger modern hotels with pools on the tram line, sensible with a car but charmless for a holiday.
Cabo de Palos village
coast and diving first trips
Best coastal character in the region, with diving and seafood and small hotels not big resorts.
La Manga Club resort
golf and spa resort trips
Self contained luxury golf base, only for a resort trip with Cartagena and Cabo de Palos days.
Think twice about
- Murcia del Carmen station fringe
Scruffy and poorly lit late at night around the station and bus station approaches, with visible street homelessness. Stay north of Floridablanca in El Carmen.
- La Paz / La Fama / Vistabella
Residential estates recorded as degraded and perceived as insecure, with no tourist reason to base there. The discount is not worth the walk home.
- La Manga strip
Dated high rise, half shuttered outside July and August, with lagoon water quality caveats. Base in Los Alcazares, Santiago de la Ribera or Cabo de Palos instead.
