Where to stay in Moalboal

Think twice about

Bar noise runs into the night and the lane is tight and trafficked. Sleep on it only if the scene is the point.

Is Moalboal safe?
- There are no lifeguards at Panagsama or White Beach and the reef drop-off starts metres from shore, so weak swimmers should wear a life vest.
- Box jellyfish have closed Moalboal beach activities before. Wear a rash guard, ask your dive shop about stingers that morning, and never touch a jellyfish.
- After heavy rain, rivers rise and canyoneering and falls routes close. Check again on the morning itself, especially in habagat months.
Moalboal travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- Clarify whether a tricycle fare is per person or per trip before you ride.
- Buy canyoneering at the regulated Badian rate rather than through layered resellers at higher prices.
- At seafood paluto kitchens, agree the weight and the total in pesos before anything is cooked.
Getting around Moalboal: public transport and more
- Take the Ceres bus marked Bato via Barili from Cebu South Bus Terminal, never Bato via Oslob, then a tricycle to Panagsama or White Beach.
- There is no Grab in Moalboal. Agree every tricycle and habal-habal price before you ride and carry small notes.
- Scooter rental runs about PHP 400 to 500 a day. Photograph the bike with the renter, check brakes and lights, and always wear the helmet.
