Lofoten travel tips: tourist traps to skip
- The Reinebringen queue at midday in July: go early or late, or walk it in the midnight sun.
- In-town ice bars: the nature is the attraction; spend the money on the boat trip.
- Drone flying is restricted in many areas and banned in the villages. Check the rules.
Getting around Lofoten: public transport and more
- The car is non-negotiable. In winter rent with studded tyres and check conditions daily.
- The E10 is the spine: Svolvær to Å is about 130 km. The beach side roads are narrow.
- Buses are thin; ferries link the outer islands. The coastal ships call at Svolvær and Stamsund.
- Fly to Svolvær (via Bodø) or Leknes; the Lofast road links the mainland.
