Best time to visit Bijagos Archipelago
• a note or something on ✦ an occasion worth the trip
Best months. Dry, calmer seas, hippos concentrated at Orango, birds in full numbers, Carnival at the end.
Good months. Still dry and glassy for fishing, but hot and getting hotter.
Mixed for turtles only. Poilao nesting peaks August to November, overlapping rains and rough seas.
Worst for a general trip. Rains thin boats, pause programmes and peak malaria.
