- Prefer newer or verifiably retrofitted buildings, and stay out of fenced damaged buildings and ruins.
Adıyaman travel tips: tourist traps to skip

- Confirm in writing which loop sites and which terrace a Nemrut tour includes before paying.
- Do not try to combine Gerger, Gölbaşı and Nemrut in one day. The province drives bigger than it looks.

- Fly to Adıyaman Airport from Istanbul, then taxi or hotel transfer about 25 minutes to the centre.
- Walk the centre and use taxis for Perre and the airport. No public transport runs the Nemrut loop, so rent a car or hire a driver guide.
- Carry passport or a copy at all times, as ID checks and checkpoints are normal in the southeast.
