Things to do in Eugene
Coffee, roses, river paddling, and one French dinner worth the splurge.
This is Eugene for someone who wants to eat and drink where locals actually go, spend time outside without making a production of it, and sit down to one or two meals that feel genuinely considered. It skips the obvious and leans into the city's quieter neighbourhoods: Whiteaker, the university edge, the riverfront. No car required for most of it.
Day 1: Downtown, Skinner Butte, and Bar Purlieu
Start with a sharp espresso downtown, climb the butte for a proper look at the valley, ease through the county history museum in the afternoon, then spend the evening at Eugene's best French table followed by craft cocktails at barTini.

Skip these
- Voodoo Doughnut is a Portland import with a long line. Prince Puckler's and Sweet Life are the local sweets.
- Sea Lion Caves is a pricey tourist trap. Heceta Head and Cape Perpetua deliver far more coast.
- 5th Street Market is an hour or two, not a full day. Mall Eugene at Valley River and Oakway has no local character.
- Check ODOT TripCheck before Highway 126 in winter or fire season, and never swim at Blue Pool.
